Terratec TBM used by Chennai Metro in India for transportation to India

The 6.61m diameter Terratec earth pressure balance shield used in Chennai metro project has been transported to India. TBM is equipped with a cutter head suitable for mixed geology to cope with mixed geological conditions composed of sand, silt, clay and weathered rocks in Chennai area.
Chennai subway is the fourth longest subway system in India. The metro network is currently composed of two lines, with a total length of 54.65 kilometers. The new line will build 48 stations and supporting tunnels. The project is expected to be completed within four years.
